Top Fuel Record Falls at Marble Falls Lakefest

Marble Falls, Texas (August 30, 2016) - During the weekend of August 12-14, 2016 at the Marble Falls Lakefest, Bryan Sanders drove the Tommy Thompson-owned Nitrochondriac Top Fuel Hydro to a record setting 3.3859-second run in the final round of qualifying on Saturday. The 3.3859 elapsed time run was 1/100th of a second quicker than the former record of 3.396-seconds held by Daryl Ehrlich in the Eddie Knox-owned Problem Child machine, established at the same venue in August of 2011.

Sanders backed up the record leg in the second round of competition on Sunday when he clicked off a 3.4192 second ET on his run against Lee Warren in the Whiskey River machine. He needed to run a minimum of 3.4198 seconds to secure the new record. The record pass was also the second quickest 1,000-foot elapsed time run in the history of the sport.

Team owner Tommy Thompson stated, “I just can’t de- scribe how proud I am of all of the crew, and I am so appreciative of all the help and support from our newest member, engine builder and tuner, Tom Conway.

When asked what it meant to be the new Top Fuel ET record holder, driver Bryan Sanders said, “It’s a group effort. I give credit to the team; they all made it hap- pen.” Bryan’s wife, Dorri, added “I have never been so happy and proud to be a part of this team. They have worked so hard and really deserve this honor. It was truly a memorable moment.”
